• On this day - May 22, 1980, Namco's video game "Puck-Man" undergoes successful location testing in a Japanese movie theater complex. It is later renamed "Pac-Man" due to concerns about vandals altering the letter "P" to an "F". Although the game is officially released in Japan in July and in the US on October 10th, the creators consider May 22 as Pac-Man's birthday, as it marks the first public showing of the game.
