π RedPajama vs. Big Tech
Move over Big Tech, there's a new rival in town, and it goes by the name of RedPajama. This open-source initiative is taking the fight straight to the big dogs with their three-step plan to produce fully open-source, reproducible, leading language models. And they've just completed stage 1.
RedPajama has produced a 1.2-trillion-word dataset, which mimics that used to train LLaMA, and with fully-trained base models set to be released in a matter of weeks, it won't be long before they're putting Big Tech to the test.
But that's not all - RedPajama is also making progress on instruction-tuning with OpenChatKit. It's clear that they mean business, and the tech world is already starting to take notice. Who knows, maybe we'll be seeing RedPajama's name up in lights alongside the likes of Google and Microsoft in the not-too-distant future. Watch this space!

βΎοΈ Meta Releases DINOv2
Mark Zuckerberg's Meta has done it again, folks! The social media giant-turned-tech conglomerate has just announced the release of DINOv2, a powerful image recognition model designed to take computer vision to the next level. This AI model boasts the ability to identify individual objects within images and video frames with greater accuracy than ever before.
But what does this mean for the rest of us? Well, according to Meta, DINOv2 has a wide range of real-world applications. For example, the company recently collaborated with the World Resources Institute to map forests on a tree-by-tree basis across entire continents. With DINOv2's advanced object recognition capabilities, this kind of project can be executed more efficiently and effectively than ever before.
Meta AI's recent releases, including Segment Anything and Animated Drawings, have all been impressive in their own right. But with the release of DINOv2, it's clear that the company is on a hot streak. Who knows what other groundbreaking technologies they have in store for us in the near future? For now, we'll just have to keep our eyes peeled and stay tuned.

π€ MiniGPT-4 beats open AI
It's hard to believe, but King Abdullah University researchers have accomplished a feat even faster than OpenAI. They have introduced a chatbot function that OpenAI has long promised - the capacity to address questions relating to specific images.
This feature, named MiniGPT-4, is founded on BLIP-2 and a LLaMA-based language model. If you're keen to learn more, they are set to launch a 7B parameter model that may pique your interest. It seems these days, you can't read anything about AI without being reminded of those elongated necks and unusual faces!
FASCINATING FINDS
Creeper was the first ever computer virus, designed to move between DEC PDP-10 on the ARPANET. While it wouldn't cause any damages, it would print out a message on the connected teletype that said: "I'm the creeper, catch me if you can". And this was 1971 buff.ly/2JbUs63

THE CODE IDEA OF THE DAY
A Platform π¨βπ»
Problem: Many businesses, both small and large, struggle with providing adequate customer support to their clients. They may not have the resources to hire a team of dedicated customer support representatives or may struggle to provide round-the-clock support. This can lead to frustration for customers and ultimately hurt the business's reputation and bottom line.
Solution: fully AI-powered customer support service that can provide support through chat and eventually phone calls. This service aims to provide a cost-effective solution for businesses that may not have the resources to hire a team of dedicated customer support representatives or struggle to provide 24/7 support. By leveraging artificial intelligence, this service can provide quick and accurate responses to customer inquiries, improving the overall customer experience and potentially boosting customer retention rates.
