🚨 AI Pioneers Sound the Alarm
Prominent industry figures are raising alarm bells regarding the potential hazards associated with AI, likening them to pandemics and nuclear wars.
The Center for AI Safety recently issued a statement signed by more than 350 executives, researchers, and engineers from the AI field (including the individual behind ChatGPT). Their message emphasized the criticality of prioritizing measures to mitigate the risks of AI that could potentially lead to human extinction.
Concerns surrounding AI's capacity to propagate misinformation, eliminate jobs, and disrupt societies have been steadily mounting. With the widespread adoption of AI, the urgency to tackle these concerns has reached unprecedented levels.
Ironically enough, we actually foresaw these developments and reported on them yesterday.
📈 Nvidia Temporarily Achieves $1 Trillion Market Cap
Yesterday, Nvidia experienced a glimpse of its trillion-dollar worth, propelled by the surging demand for generative AI tools in the tech industry.
While Nvidia's stock price slipped to $401.11 at the market's closing on Monday, momentarily excluding the company from the trillion-dollar club, its impressive performance in the previous quarter, yielding over $2 billion in profit, contributed to reaching this significant valuation milestone.
Nvidia's chips serve as a vital component for companies seeking to integrate AI into their products, and their recent keynote at Computex 2023 unveiled a deluge of new tech announcements, reaffirming their pivotal role in the industry.
🤖 Majority of US Adults Remain Unfamiliar with ChatGPT
In a recent survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, American adults' experiences with ChatGPT were examined, and the findings were rather surprising.
According to the study, the majority of adults in the United States are aware of ChatGPT, yet only a mere 14% have actually utilized it. What's particularly interesting is the purpose for which this small percentage of adults employs the chatbot:
19% for entertainment
14% for learning
12% for work
This information leads us to ponder the extent to which we may be residing in an echo chamber as we contemplate strategies to prevent ChatGPT from replacing our jobs.
